Tips and tricks to fitting in with family and friends.

Dining out can be a challenge with special diets.  Here's a few tips and tricks to make it fun again!

Offer or ask to find 3 restaurants others can choose from.  A little work on your part and you'll be happy with all 3 options!

When invited to a house dinner, bring a dish you can enjoy and share with others.

When asked "Why are you eating that?" try not to take it personally.  Just respond "It's just what I felt like having today."  No explanations necessary.

Order a simple side dish, a cup of coffee or an appetizer and enjoy socializing.  No obligations to order a full meal, unless you want to.

Restaurant Table

Restaurants are a huge part of our American and family culture.  Especially while traveling, restaurants are what we often look forward to. Considering our intentions while eating out can greatly improve the choices we make.  Here's a few reasons why we go out:

Seeking entertainment.

Too tired to cook and clean up.

Boredom.

Enjoying social interaction with friends.

Convenience.

Enjoying dressing up.

Enjoying overindulgence.

Seeking companionship.

No time for food prep.

Occasionally we all eat out for the reasons above but, it's also ok to make your health and well-being a priority.  Whenever you're ready, you can choose carefully, with purpose, how and when you dine out and enjoy yourself with intention.

Travel with Relaxation and Wellness

Return home feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and well with some meal planning and wellness ideas.

Whether traveling for work or leisure, we don't give much thought to what we want to achieve from our trip.  We often end up overindulging and dining out purely for convenience.  To add a spark of health and well-being to your trip, consider the following:

Pre-plan restaurants before you leave home.

For relaxation and stress-relief consider some holistic options including;  massage, sound healing, a yoga or thai-chi class or a nature walk.

When traveling alone, schedule some Zoom Calls just for chatting with friends and family.

Making Self Care a Priority

Are you the Golden Goose in your household?  Are you the one holding everything together? Then your self-care is crucial to everyone's well-being!

If you travel for work or you're the main travel coordinator for your family, self-care is sometimes pushed aside as an unnecessary indulgence.  Here are a few tips to prioritizing your well-being:

Make it a true priority at least in small doses.

Block out time on your calendar and treat it like any other important appointment.

Be aware of your own needs and desires.  What helps the most?  A bath, reading, a walk or a phone call to a friend?

Plan something special weekly, monthly or quarterly.  A massage, sound healing, or a trip to the spa can do wonders for lifting your mood.
